The Wooden Church of Mother of God’s Entrance in Church of Dimitrie Cantemir Monastery
Grumezoaia Village, Dimitrie Cantemir Commune, Vaslui County (code LMI 2004: VS-II-m-B-06804)
The building is attributed to the family of Lord Dimitrie Cantemir (1692). Initially built in Silişteni Village in the county of Fălciului, after the disappearance of the locality, it was moved on its actual emplacement in the 18th century at about 3 km east from the village, on the former emplacement of the church of Grumezoaia founded around 1668. In 1802, the church was repaired and had lands donated from the community. After the secularization of the monastery assets in 1863, the hermitage was dissolved, the church becoming of chrism. Starting with 1997, with the reopening of the monastery, it is used as religious place. Today’s appearance is due to the repainting from 2004.
The church preserves its original rectangular plan, with unhooked apse of the altar, the belfry tower on the threshold, southern entrance, four-shade roof. The facades have recently been covered with shingle.
It preserves paintings from the 19th century of oil on cloth, with the legend in Cyrillic (fragments of iconostasis, the icons of “Mother of God with the Baby”, “Saint Nicholas”, “the Synod of Parents and Martyrs”, the hic jacet), icons on wood, the bronze bell dated from “1882”. The old religious book is deposited in the municipal Museum of Huşi.
Nowadays, the church has been recruited with cells, religious inscription, facilities for food and accommodation.
