The legend says that: in 1919 the Christian Dimitriu Ilii found a treasure with gold coins together with Christians from the village: Andros Vasile, Veleşcu Dimitrii, Ţîrdea Petru and decided to build a holly church with this money. The construction of the church lasted until 1929. The long period of the construction was due to the lack of stone and chalkstone. These materials were brought from the neighbouring of Chişinău with the chariots with oxen from about 100 km distance. The church is built from stone with the form of a cross, by specialists from invited from Italy. In 1930 the church was hallowed by the Great Bishop Chiril, the bishop of Bassarabia and of the Hotinului.
In 1991, after a total restoration, the walls of the church were decorated with valuable icons, one of them being The Cover of the Tomb of the Mother of God.
