Church bearing the names of Saints Constantin and Helen
Leova District, Filipeni Village, in the center of the village, opposite the Mayor House.
The church from Filipeni Village was opened on 3rd of June 1907, at its construction participating 400 inhabitants of the village, working and bringing money to built this saint halidom. From its opening, it was ruled by vicar Proteereu Gheorghe Agura. At present, the vicar of the church is Sergiu Bărlădeanu. Fromits opening to present, it has permenantly functioned, being the only church in the department that during the communist regime helped and served religious food to people.
The church is built under the form of a cross on a surface of 270 square meters. The base is built in stone, the walls are of brick and the roof of sheet. A lot of priests served this church, but all had the same aim: To inspire faith in our good God and everything that is holly.
The most representative valuable objects belonging to this church are:
- „ Barying Jesus in Tomb” – (Saint Air), dressed in gold. Saint Air was brought to our church from Borogani Village, after the demolition of the church from Borogani Village, having been there since 1812.
- Two icons: of Mother of God from 1931, covered in gold and of our God Jesus Christ from 1931
- The icon of the Mother of God with Three Hands from 1934
- The icon of the Great Martyr Panteleimon – 1914
- The Sleeping of Mother of God in the Grave ( Plaşeniţa ) – 1909
The painting was renewed after Andrei Rubleov, being painted in oil with warm colours, named “The Real Painting”.
