The Wooden Church of Mother of God’s Entrance in Church (Vovidenia),

Dragomireşti Village, Dragomireşti Commune, Vaslui County (code LMI 2004: VS-II-m-A-06790)

Built by the community of the village around 1774, near an older church (brought in the 17th century from the point “At the Cemetery” which today does not exist anymore), and built by the hodman Enea and the master smith Neagu, helped by Vasile Pavel.

The church impresses through the accuracy of the technical accomplishments, the harmony of the forms, the monumentality of the interior space, preserving the initial aspect and structure.

Three-apse church with pentagonal apses, southern entrance, narrow west threshold, supported on chopped pillars, sectioned in accolade. Made of oak beam girder in blockbau system (of horizontal binds), on stone foundation and timber support. The beam girders, bound in “flint” and “straight loop”, are protected by a four-side inclined roof with long eaves that protects the shingle coverage. The facades are chopped, with no background, and the windows are rectangular with simple ironware. The nave and narthex are covered with polygonal sectioned vaults, delimited by accolade small arches on the pillars decorated with flakes similar to those from the threshold. The massive oak door is enframed by a porch decorated with vegetal- floral motifs.

It preserves epoch painting and furniture (the iconostasis, the pew of the Mother of God, the religious table and chair, the shrine, the candelabrum and wooden rush holder) as well as a bell dated from “1802”. The collection of old books is at the municipal Museum from Huşi.
